Finally!
After restarting so much, every time nudging mods, changing settis and starting out differently, I think I have it, that one round of game I was searching.
Very large, nicely generated 1024x1024 map with "just" 50 full fledged cities.
The commies may rejoice, I took away the AIs ability to build roads, we have vibe planning engineers to centralize this decision in the name of an efficient and orderly workforce.
"Minimal" regular starting industries with the used city script - Renewed Village Growth - layering another "low" layer of raw materials over the map after creation, giving a lot to transport to a few select places.
Last map I played, I turned all industry off and had to fund them at at first horrendous rates to have them placed by myself, making transporting them rather arbitrary except for money earned which started to matter less very quickly.
So this time I limit myself to only build shops in cities as they tend to take their time with building them on their own. Maybe I also place hotels to generate more passengers myself, but only if they fit nicely.
Startup went pretty smooth.
Two quick electrics to generate money.
Convert everything to universal rail and bless this land with the first junction, which now fluently drops from the heavens upon these lands.
LOL and Awww ^_^ at how smol Chiba is, we'll grow the shit out of it later.
And a first long range rail to cover some ground and set up feeder lines, still have to find some factories anywhere.
