They probably think that asking for an attorney is suspicious and they can weasel their way out themselves since they are so smart.

They don't know they can ask for one nor that police can deliberate and legally lie and misguide them into what their rights are. It's also kinda pointless for some people, some black guy a year or 2 ago made it to the news after he got arrested on bs charges and asked for a lawyer, and was denied it with the ruling of the judge saying that because of the way he asked to "just get me a lawyer, dog" didn't make it clear that he really wanted a lawyer.

Isn't this the whole theater about how the police pretends it's just an "interview" and not an interrogation at all? Criminals are usually "smart enough" to commit a crime, but not smart enough to actually think through the entire thing. Once caught they are basically in unknown areas and try to "deal with it". Probably the best example is people like Hans Reiser.

I didn't do it and it was obvious from the type of damage and what he accused me of. Cops were called. One of the cops casually turned to me and said "when I was young, I also drunkenly broke a window by throwing a rock." What these videos usually do no show, is all the hundreds of actually innocent people that these manipulative pig sociopaths try this on, like convincing them, to just having a friendly talk without the attorney, and then just to sleaze their way into making you admit that you did maybe 5 years ago think about something vaguely similar to what happened, and then they have another case on their hands that they can use to get a raise.
