Why is m4a not allowed as a file format?
Wikipedia says m4a is a non standard extension of mp4. If you rename it to mp4 it works.
>>1048 testing
Okay it does not work. On other chans it worked this way.
>>1048 It also says >Audio-only MPEG-4 files generally have a .m4a (MPEG-4 Audio) extension. This is especially true of unprotected content. So, why not allow it so Bernd can upload AAC in mp4 containers?
The official MIME-Type for mp4 is video/mp4. The extensions m4a and m4v do not officially have another MIME-Type. But it seems, firefox is transmitting audio/x-m4a which was not included in the allowed MIME-Types.
>>1062 Thanks man for fixing it so quickly.
Just sad that embedded covers don't seem to work in m4a's, but I guess it's a limitation of the container
>>1066 It's a limitation of the board software. Perhaps somewhere in the future I can write an extension to handle it.
>>1078 Is your fork of the board software open source?
Another file format request: what about TIF images? Would that be possible?
>>1093 I would rather have avif implemented. It will be the future for web content. Would be nice to finally be able to use it here.
>>1110 >It will be the future for web content Like webp was supposed to be?
>>1115 Webp just wasn't good enough to gain traction. Avif has way better quality per compression level. JPEG XL is also very good, but has basically no support. Avif is already integrated and is being adopted by all the relevant players. I did some tests and I think it's very good, but I guess nobody really cares about stuff like this except for companies, that want to save costs.
